Staff Training – Hiring, Safety & Orientation

Employee Requirements:
- Background checks for security clearance and criminal records
- Relevant past references
- Bondable and insurable
- Punctual and responsible
- Courteous and professional
- Knowledge of first-aid, provincial WCB, and WorkSafe standards
- WHMIS certification (or commitment to obtain)
- Adequate transportation (company vehicles available if needed)
- Building Service Worker certification (for senior staff)

Commercial Cleaning & Janitorial Services
Zenith Hygiene Plus hires staff with previous janitorial experience and provides extensive training tailored to the specific job site. This includes knowledge of first-aid kit and eyewash station locations. Supervisors encourage recording all onsite injuries, noting potential hazards, and using personal protection equipment. We also train employees on operating special equipment such as floor scrubbers and pressure washers.
At Zenith Hygiene Plus, workplace safety is proactive. We address safety and security concerns before they become problems using assessment tools to evaluate staff performance weekly or monthly, depending on the contract. Employees receive constructive feedback to continually improve building maintenance standards.
WHMIS Program
- Education on hazards of controlled products
- Procedures for safe handling, storage, and disposal of WHMIS-controlled products
- Emergency procedures for accidental exposure, spillage, or emissions with MSD* Sheets
- Annual review of the program with long-term employees and as needed for new hires
- New employees are not allowed to work alone and must have a supervisor present until WHMIS education is completed
